Tips for ERP Career Advancement

SAP PP Jobs are very engaging and detail-oriented, requiring a dedicated and exacting worker. Whether one is new to the world of ERP or not, one can improve his/her efficiency and advance his/her ERP career. There are eight important tips guaranteed to advance one’s ERP career when implemented:

1. Attend events and leave one’s comfort zone. It is crucial to attend social events and to not remain in one’s comfort zone, because these events are meant for meeting people, sharing viewpoints, and snatching opportunities. Do not attend an event without a goal in mind; and mingle with various people one does not know instead of the same people one knows. By leaving one’s comfort zone to socialize with others, one will learn new tips, hear about new jobs, and learn about a company’s new product or strategy.

2. Continue education. It is important to be committed to furthering one’s education for a SAP PP job opportunity. Never cease education after earning a degree or certification. There is always more one can learn in this field. In addition, one’s passion for education will show others that he/she is highly motivated and dedicated. The more knowledgeable a person is about ERP, the further he/she will advance.

3. Be visible on the Internet and social media. Getting one’s name out there is a challenging task, but not impossible for an ambitious person. In order to get one’s name recognized, one must write books, columns, and blogs. There are various respected sites to write columns and blogs on to guarantee they will be read. Before starting to write or blog, determine a style and focus. Always make sure to edit everything before posting it, so that one’s best work can be read.

4. Do more than one’s competitors. Keep in mind Pareto’s famous 80/20 rule: 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. In essence, to advance one’s career, one must do what the slackers are not doing to become part of the special 20%. If most people are not returning emails within an hour, then make sure to reply to emails within the hour. If most people are not attending industry events, then never miss an event. Success lies in doing what the 80% is not doing, because it causes one to stand out and shows great ambition and efficiency.

5. Keep a strong follow up with a recruiter. It is very important to follow up with a recruiter, because many great opportunities for sap pp jobs can be missed due to not keeping up. Always answer phone calls, return emails and calls immediately. Most people fail to regularly contact recruiters; therefore, one can easily take advantage of the 80/20 rule and snatch up those opportunities.

6. Make a career path decision early. The earlier a career path decision is made, the better, because it allows one to remain focused in a particular field. Consulting and management are two different fields, so the decision must be made and stuck with. Career hopping will only hinder the path to advancing. Therefore, the earlier a decision is made, the more room there is for advancement.

7. Write a book. Writing a book is a long term project, but well worth it in the end. Most people are not willing to spend the time and effort into writing a book, so it is crucial to advancing one’s career. If one lacks the writing skills, one may work with a partner or hire a person to assist him/her in formulating one’s knowledge and ideas into engaging words.

8. Take Breaks. Balancing one’s life is important for not only one’s physical and emotional health, but for success. Loving one’s work is not a bad thing, but overworking can wear a person down, stifling the brain and health. Making time to relax without one’s laptop and blackberry by one’s side allows room for the brain to rest, in turn boosting one’s performance when one returns to work.

If one follows the above tips, sap pp jobs opportunities and career advancement will be gained. For the ambitious person who loves work, it is important to not be in the 80% of people who do not make a name for themselves and do the bare minimum. Being part of the 20% is rewarding for those who value consistent advancement and success. The best opportunities do not fall into one’s lap, but are strives for.
